My Word

Poetic words
Words most appealing
Words that play with you
only to leave you
hanging from the ceiling
Words of the absurd
… devoured by birds
Words deceiving
Words that may never
wish to be heard
Words most revealing
Words that leave me
… lost for words
Words with true feeling

Words with vision
Words of hate
Words that poison
Words of fate
Words of division
Words as a weapon
Words that imprison
once they are spoken
Words that come running
whenever you call
Words designed
to make you feel small
Shaken words
Words mistaken
For the sake of mere words
people misplaced
where all hope is forsaken
Words as a warning
upon the eve of destruction

Freedom words
Words of wisdom
Ambitious words
… put on exhibition
Words alarming
Words disarming
Words that are loud
proud and demanding
Hollow words
that don’t mean a thing
Hallowed words
that make the soul sing
Words like swords
Words that sting
Words by which
you’ll be held to account
Words of a sermon
standing high on a mount

Words of gratitude
for a life freely given
Words that delude
Words that are broken
Words that exude
fear and superstition
Words overheated
transmitted
and bleated too often
A time for words
A time for action
The moving hand
endlessly writing
The words of history
needlessly repeating

Joyful words
Words of creation
Words of sadness
Words unspoken
Words that bless
Words that curse
Words that caress
Words that live on
long after the rest

Words that break
Words bullet-proof
Words that speak
of spiritual truth
Words that give
and words that take
Loving words
Words that don’t break

Words of passion
Words of discretion
Words that flower
with the power of expression
My joy in the Word
is like a strong tower
with celestial words
from heaven descending
Words from a Kingdom
never ending
Healing words
Words redeeming
Words that surpass
all human understanding
Words of forgiveness
Words of grace
Words from beyond
this time and space
Words that shine brightly
throughout the night
Upon the lips angels
words of liberty
. . . taking flight

I hear all that
mumble jumble
Words that tumble
from thoughts that fumble
with voices loud
and like to rumble
For the ever so humble
and the not so proud
the truth is simple
All of creation
is God’s holy temple
Jesus is the Word
the heavenly expression
and the perfect example
for a life worth living
My Lord of Lords
beyond all earthly words
for whom
I now walk the line
For me he is ample
The King of Kings
whose thing is love divine
Ever in the offering
a free holy sample

  1. Polonius: What do you read, my lord?

    Hamlet: Words, words, words.

Sick of dealing with Uncle Claudius’ turds 💩
The prince picked up a book of prophecy and read David Redpath’s words
The answer to “what is Hecuba to him?”
is that we are living in a world of chronic sin
and sometimes a work of art will cause us to pause
and examine what happens when we break God’s laws.

  2. Lovely, brings to mind the lyrics of a Sat Stevens’ song from long ago as follows: “there are no words I can use because the meaning still leaves for you to choose and I couldn’t stand to let them be abused by you” love your poem and Cat Stevens’ lyrics, both so true. Thank you for reading my poem and for the reblog, I am very grateful. I look forward to reading much more of your work… so many poems and books, so little time! All the best

    1. Thank you most commodiously,
John. With no explication to be
      found in a worldwide acronym,
the humble word could do with
      some amplification. Till then,
much like Mick Jagger, my poor
      lexicon “can’t get no satisfaction”.

    1. I don’t mean to sing the blue, but a
single word can be the difference
between fake the news, and a higher
reality in blue suede shoes. A word
can be worth a thousand pictures,
and vica versa. It’s all down to the
      words that we choose.

  3. from the honey of my mind

    to create mentally pictures
    steady by words with words

    thanks, David ;))

    1. That is most curious, Chris.
When I asked Elvis if he had
      anything to say, he answered,
      “Girls, girls, girls.”

When I pick up a cheeseburger
      to munch
      A crunchy crunchety
      A crunchety crunch
I never ever get to finish my lunch
      Because there’s always bound
      to be a bunch of
      Girls, in tight sweaters,
      Girls, in short dresses,
      A walkin’ and wigglin’ by
      yay, yay, yay
      Girls, out boatin’
      Girls, just a floatin’
So pretty, Lord I could cry.
I’m just a red blooded boy
And I can’t stop thinkin’ about
      Girls! Girls! Girls!

  4. my words – my world
    words have power
    thoughts are closed in words
emotions are born in your mind
words flowing from the right mouth
    they build up or destroy
    our words – our world

  5. “Words are all we have, really. We have thoughts but thoughts are fluid. Then we assign a word to a thought and we’re stuck with that word for that thought, so be careful with words. I like to think that the same words that hurt can heal. It’s a matter of how you pick them.”

    1. No compliment grander‼️😎
      Thank you profusely, Sadia 🙏
      Having read copious amounts
      of Henry Longfellow
      something about rhyming
      seems to have have seeped
deep into my very soul 🤔 🕶️

    1. An immeasurable thank you, Ken 🙏

According to Wikipedia, if you spell
the word ‘Word’ backwards you get
‘Drow’ … a dark elf of the Forgotten
      Realm, apparently. So, not wanting
a bunch of Drows 🧟‍♀️🧟‍♂️🧟 bustling
in my hedgerow, I’ll do my best not
to misuse the word ‘Word’ like that 😎

    1. The Word of Creation . . .
      who holds all things together.
      The physicists are still looking
for an explanation, as it seems
75% of the mass required to
      generate the gravity necessary
      to hold the Universe together
      is mysteriously missing. Hence
all the research into “Dark Matter”
… yet they’re still to find any ?!

    1. Creative expression is a part of
      the human parcel, a reflection
of the the Greater Creator, who’s
image we were made in. A gift
divine that makes us all human.
Thank you 🙏 for playing along Nitinsingh 😎
