A Message (revisited)

To know what Love is
with just a glimpse
through a distant door
ever so slightly ajar
That scent of life’s fullness
floating in the air
with the allure
of joyful abundance
and so much more
beyond the broken schemes
and forsaken dreams
littering an unswept floor
with things never spoken
this side of a shadow curtain

Truth
with all proof
given voice
The divine choice …
to answer a whispered call
sensing providence
in a response
making perfect sense
Past this mortal fence
through the portal
of a celestial sky
to the One
who will take
that sallow shadow
from off your face
and replace it
with glowing grace
No longer lost
in the questioning “Why?”
as the answer eternal
flowing down from on high
is a resounding “Yes!”
with a spiritual connection
to your very being
like all heaven times seven
beyond material calculation
and mere human understanding
The deepest yearning
learning how to fly
upon the wings of love
to the Great Spirit
from beyond the sky

Seeking
the absolute
with absolution
the solution
divine in the finding
Mercy given …
Grace for the taking
Salvation is coming
with a generous second helping
What does it take?
What gives
to know what Love is?

The power to answer
a higher call
Faith
Hope
and Love
seeking the truer core
of forever more
To sample the ample
the thrill of it all
To soar
with the living King
to the ever forever
where Love
is the winning score
That breath of life
like a river flowing
through every pore

Far beyond
this pit of regret
and deepest sorrow
held captive in a body mortal
there is a pathway eternal
in true freedom to follow
The Spirit leading
with joy everlasting
Right here
Right now
Not just
a never land tomorrow
Not some religion of bondage
that keeps your soul hostage
To see
to know
to taste
to be …
what Love is

“Beloved, let us love one another,
for love is from God, and whoever
loves has been born of God and knows
God. Anyone who does not love does
not know God because God is love”.

    1. Thank you very much, Stell.
Just don’t book in for a spell
      at that broken down Hotel.
      That Californian Hotel of
      which the eagles warn,
      where many a message
      in a bottle are spawn.
      You being a favourite
      of mine, Stella,
it’s only fair that I warn ya!

      1. You’re always welcome.
        I’m just a passer through
        I promise you
        Hoping for a souvenir:)
But I fear to fall in Blakes path
        I hear their message
And I say it is a lovely place
        Someone of your liking
        Is a my favourite also.

  1. A wonderful message of love, David, of which I wish you much. I’ve been reading you on the Reader on my mobile devices, I didn’t realize how neat your blog looks on a desktop computer. I love this theme – clean and simple. Happy New Year, too, in case we don’t get to exchange words by then. (I look forward to catching Sydney fireworks on tv – they’re spectacular.) 🙂

    1. Happy Boxing Day Sale shopping,
& an abundantly flowing New Year
      to you, Annie.
Being a technophobe I’ve kept my
site minimal, by default. Clean and
simple suits me (well, one out of
      two ain’t bad?).
Melbourne is doing it’s best to outdo
Sydney’s fireworks, but I think nothing
can beat the Sydney Harbour Bridge
      on pyrotechnic fire.
It’s been a true pleasure reading you
throughout the year. Annie, you are
      a poetic treasure.

      1. I’ve lived in both cities, Annie,
so l try to avoid tribal rivalry.

        A pre PC historic remnant;

        “We’d rather live in Melbourne
Though some folks say it’s faulty
        Sydney’s got its strippers
        But we’ve got Henry Bolte
        We’ve got Australian Rules
And the Melbourne Cup each year
Sydney’s girls are way out front
        But we’ve got stronger beer”

  2. Thank you, David, for sharing this beautiful poem about Love. “Love is what we are born with. Fear is what we learn here.” (Marianne Williamson). Every morning when I meditate it does feel exactly like a return to Love and the shedding of all residual fear. Happy New Year to you and yours. May every day be filled with joy, peace and, most of all, love. ♥.

    1. Thank you very much, Niki.
All the best for a blessed 2019🌟

“If you hear the song I sing
      You will understand (listen!)
You hold the key to love and fear
      All in your trembling hand
Just one key unlocks them both
      It’s there at your command
      Come on people now
      Smile on your brother
      Everybody get together
      Try to love one another
      Right now” ~ The Youngbloods

  3. Your poem is the very message of love. Also, I like how you include the presence of the Spirit to have faith. I have enjoyed it very much as I usually do with all your posts. The photo is also beautiful and illustrates your piece perfectly.

    1. Very much appreciated, Nina 🙏
And as John Lennon might say …
“I’m sorry that I made you cry.” 😎

      This is my all time favourite prayer;

      “May God bless
      and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
      And climb on every rung,
      May you stay forever young,
      Forever young, forever young,
      May you stay forever young.
May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
      May you always be courageous,
      Stand upright and be strong,
      May you stay forever young,
      Forever young, forever young,
      May you stay forever young.
May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
      May you stay forever young.”

      1. Oh no don’t be sorry! It’s a wonderful feeling actually when words touch me so deeply that I spontaneously well up. And it’s good for cleaning the eyeballs too. 👁
A truly beautiful prayer indeed, thank you for sharing—“May your song always be sung.” Yes. 😊

    1. My sacred pleasure, Anna.
      Thanks for the positive feedback.
      The creator of this existence
is a scientist, and an artist.
Not some fetish for the superstitious.

      “Disillusioned words
      like bullets bark
      As human gods
      aim for their mark
      Make everything from toy guns
      that spark
      To flesh-colored Christs
      that glow in the dark
      It’s easy to see
      without looking too far
      That not much
      Is really sacred.”

      “While preachers preach
      of evil fates
      Teachers teach
      that knowledge waits
      Can lead to hundred-dollar plates
And goodness hides behind its gates
      But even the President
      of the United States
      Sometimes must have
      To stand naked.”

“And though the rules of the road
      have been lodged
      It’s only people’s games
      that you got to dodge
      And it’s alright,
      Ma, I can make it.”

      “While one who sings
      with his tongue on fire
Gargles in the rat race choir
      Bent out of shape
      from society’s pliers
Cares not to come up any higher
      But rather get you down
in the hole that he’s in.”

      “But I mean no harm
      nor put fault
On anyone that lives in a vault
      But it’s alright, Ma,
      if I can’t please him.”

      1. Thanks Vanessa.
And yes, as the the Poet Laureate
        of Rock ‘n’ Roll once warned;

        “Don’t follow leaders,
        watch the parkin’ meters.”

        I’ve been watching 👀 those
        parking meters ever since 😎

        And the fighting is strong
        And they’re breaking down

    1. My pleasure, Art.
      Hope is truly
      A treasured gift
      To put behind
      The broken past
      Having the faith
      Moving forward
      With style & grace
      To press on
      In love’s embrace
      And with the
      Fullness of joy
      Run this race

Tribalism seems to be a contagious
virus that will lay in wait but never sleep
