Roaming fields
of poppies flowering
in a land flowing
with milk and honey
ever so gracefully
she comes to me
mandala dreaming
under a Tuscan sun
with sweet whispers
of priceless treasures
and mighty endeavours
yet to be done
Upon her lips
a most sacred invitation
of passions relentless
To sip from creation’s
loving cup
with chivalrous intension
Eclipsed and transfixed
upon a pinnacle
of weightlessness
Always within
a hidden question
. . . Will I measure up
to the breadth
and the warmth
of her tender loving?
For her love
I am forever curious
Lost in the throes
of her blinding osmosis
upon a bed
of budding roses
Light particles
of transcending grace
caught and released
from the snares of Eros
Out of mortal reach
in love’s hot pursuit
of blue sky research
All along the High Street
where heaven and hell meet
she is the space in-between
Her kingdom come
upon a thirsting tongue
of the total sum
held in blissful suspension
Our finite destination
as on a pallet
of pigments blending
The cosmos unfolding
Her loving taste
has become
my purest addiction

Linda & I were staying a few weeks in the
Tuscan village of Prato when most of the
inhabitants dressed up in white for a
summer’s night banquet. It was a local
annual event. I thought it was the perfect
setting for a wedding, so I’ve used a bit
of poetic licence 😎

The Reclining Venus was painted by Titian around 1530. Attitudes regarding gender
roles have changed a bit since then;
“Overall to conclude Venus of Urbino
painted by Tiziano Vecellio commissioned by Guidobaldo della Rovere was a painting which showed martial obligations for a wife. This is suggested by the symbolism such as the sleeping dog to represent fidelity and the child and woman to symbolise motherhood.”
The photos from Tuscany are actually of a
White Festival. A once a year celebration in
the town of Prato. No wedding, or Virgins
being sacrificed. But definitely a perfect
occasion to stage a one (a wedding that is) 😎

I’d avoid Florence during the peak tourist season.
I almost got trampled by an infantry of Chinese
tourists, marching in formation. With their
armoury of steel roller luggage, being led by the
tour group commander holding up a little red
flag, they weren’t going to stop anything.
A mother holding her baby only just managed
to get out of their path . . . thank God.
I still have nightmares of that little red plastic
flag on a pole relentlessly advancing 🚩😱
But Florence to Venice is an absolute must,
so best go late spring, or early autumn 😎👍

A great love poem about the beauty of Eros, David.
I loved the pictures of the Tuscan white wedding day, David.
All that was needed was Billy Idol singing White Wedding Day in the Tuscan language.
Liked the big Caledonian clock on the Isle of Skye.
Never saw that when I was there.
All I remember of Skye was standing in a farm field and being greeted by an overly friendly long haired Highland cattle bull.
Which made me glad I wasn’t Bonnie Prince Charlie wearing a kilt at the time.

As an Italian Billy Idol would sing
… 🎶 “More More Amore!” 🎶
I found that reasonably large Caledonian
clock in the town of Portree. I was on my
way to become the first person to climb
Mount Storr … wearing thongs 👍
We did see plenty of shaggy, long horned,
highland cattle. Even saw some horny ones
shagging 😎
