Still breathing
Living still
From oceans deep
an immortal spill
The waters testing
in the fullness of time
What’s in your heart?
Who’s on your mind?
Having received
the Love Memorandum
from Planet Freedom
Regarding that love
that doesn’t change
in the wildest of weather
and through all that’s strange
Of love forged
in the fires of forever
Love that gives meaning
and substance
to this existence
A love that never fails
like the latter rains
of a summer harvest
Is there ever a real choice?
Is there a hope that floats?
The cunning linguist
and artful dodger
with a fresh oliver twist
Fluent in all different
languages of love
with the quick silver
of a silken tongue
Taking the course
of least resistance
To bring a slow shiver
at his lovely lover’s
hungry insistence
At a long held
unsustainable level
a quivering deliverance
Riding hell for leather
all tall in the saddle
of a bareback thriller
Love’s moonshine
bubbling away
in the old copper still
All for a partner
who never pays the bill
of love’s true crime
Truly committed …
till the end of time
Seeking her divine will
Drinking the finest wine
at her grand reception
with an open invitation
Savouring the entrée
Finger food served
upon a golden tray
at a private celebration
on a glittering occasion
Reflections of creation
consumed in satisfaction
Only by invitation
Her pleasure … my treasure
I’m distilled into the oak
of love’s recreation
Decanted and ready to pour
with the lover I most adore
(If I eros in this discourse
it is her fault … of course)
All things
in balance
and within reason
Love
without truthfulness
. . . just emotion
Love
without faithfulness
. . . only fleeting
Hope forever yearning
for that love unfailing
For life without hope
. . . a desolate place
upon a road of despair
downhill travelling
The deep
skyward leading
To live and die
in the arms of grace
with love resounding
The mountains moving
The shame
of a lowdown game
departing
Pride and privilege
brought to nothing
Love without hope
such a shallow place
At straws grasping
Do not let
the cookie cutter
of the narrow straight
strap you into the jacket
of some religious racket
Are you biting
at the wrong bait?
Are you punching
below your fate?
Does the Phoenix
upon the wing
forever dream
of all consuming flames,
or of rising from the ashes
and soaring the heavens
with passion once again?
Supernal and ethereal
the substance spiritual
of divine love ever faithful
Not the futile promises
of peddlers and pretenders
of all things “Supernatural”
Is there something hollow
regarding your mountain
of hoarded material?
Are you seeing the parts
but missing the sum?
Could it possibly be
the Love Memorandum?
The pugilistic linguist
his truth without love
A self satisfied wordsmith
just a tool for the brutal
Bearing a face full of fist
The dead catwalking
All fashion
No compassion
forever talking
The male contraceptive
of a trigger warning
Gasping for every breath
as he disputes
with hallowed institutes
a recipe for this existence
Following orders
from a menu of regret
Todays ‘Specials’?
(Take Away, of course)
“Out of luck!
… All sold out.”
Never remember
to always forget
one sweet ‘n’ sour day
your home delivery
with the gravy of certainty
will be dispatched
by pallbearers on a bender
Sent by Overload
the Undertaker
of Kitchen Grime
Who’s always ready
to steak tartare you
a new one
where the sun don’t shine
The celebrity chef of death
cooking with the gravity
. . . of reality
The life you surrender
ain’t no chinese takeaway
In an esoteric restaurant
that just don’t exist
the Linguistic Pugilist
reviewing the cuisine
for Playboy Magazine
Without hope
beyond a careless grope
Ever gasping …
for that final breath
Glorious
and flawless
Love
like a Flying Fortress
Life
like freedom of choice
A light in the darkness
given a willing voice
The virus insidious
will surely soon pass
You are never truly alone
in this world of vice
There is a place
in this universe
you can truly call home
Hope shining
through all the bullshit
It don’t come easy
in a world full of sleazy
With egos over easy
But it seems to me
that you must be
… truly worth it
For in this …
the fullness of time
perfect love
manifested in the flesh
stands guarding
the spiritual exit
With a password divine
From deep within
true love
waiting to begin
breathe it in
with your every breath
Don’t leave it to last
Take a taste test
of the truly sublime
The truth within love
freely given
gives this life
a flavour divine

as much as you can
Thus enabling you to rise

And to even
love your fellow man

Thank you for reminding me that every longing of my heart – eros, philos, or agape – since the very first, has been to for Love; deep, surrounding, healing, infinite. ∞
It took me a while to read it, and I didn’t understand most of the allusions, but I loved it. I loved the photos too. I put it on my Pinterest page, “Art that Inspires.”
