      1. Yes, there is so much truth and beauty in art. And all around us since ancient times, with so many artists and styles. I think you have acquired a unique style, David, so expressive and well done.

  1. stunning art work, David, both your studies and the originals; one of the pleasures of your posts, apart from the psychedelic, free associative writing, is the bringing to our attention lesser known paintings; many thanks

      1. Yet, there is something about standing
before a masterpiece, in the flesh ๐ŸŽจ
Once, whilst gazing at Rene Magritte’s
‘Personal Values’, I fell head first into
        the painting ๐Ÿ˜Ž ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ A surrealistic white

  2. Thank you so much for sharing these, David. ๐Ÿ’› That one by Dottori is positively divine. Had never seen this painting, nor heard of this artist (at least as far as I can remember) before.

    1. I found the Dottori ‘Crucifixion’
hidden away in the Vatican, where
nobody would ever see it. So I just
had to take a snap. Not sure if that
was kosher, as photography is not
allowed nearby in the Sistine Chapel?
Anyway, I was just there to appeal
      my recent excommunication for the
crime of hanging out with Marxist
      revolutionaries. I tried to explained
that they were actually members of
      my extended family, not friends.
But sadly, to no avail. So what’s a
      few stolen sneaky snaps? ๐Ÿ˜Ž

    1. Thanks Vanessa.
He went 2 days before his 95th
      birthday, so not entirely unexpected.
But, he was as tough as old boots.
He donated his body to medical
science, so no funeral. A canny old

  3. True. Dad was critically injured in a
boating accident when he was in his
forties, and wasn’t expected to live.
So he spent the next fifty years
    determined to prove the doctors
wrong. That’s why they requested his
body be left for scientific research.
They’re still trying to figure out what
    made him tick ๐Ÿค”

  4. Just spotted this now. I especially love the one by Gerardo Dottori, but also the first one, by Giulio Aristide Sartoria. Thanks for sharing them (four years ago ๐Ÿ˜Š).
