Vexatious Rex

with the blue tongue

. . . and the dishevelled one

from the species, Natural Blonde

. . . of the steampunk basin cut.

Where did it all go wrong?

Some blame Bob Dylan . . .

but it was Uncle Ernie playing his
Frank Zappa albums all night long.

So watch out Boy Scout!

Best you get that tambourine out …

for here comes the Water Dragon 🐲

  1. This is really beautiful. You are really beautiful. 😎👀😇As is/was your mom, if I’ve guessed this lovely lady right. Stunning montage, David.
You’re lucky to have such good photographers around… looking through a lens of true love. 💛But that, I imagine, is thanks in huge part to the lovely love you yourself emit. 💗Kudos, and much gratitude for sharing your snake-and-lizard-kinglike self with us. 🐍🐲😊🙏

      Thanks for the wonderful comments.
And yes, Lizard King could be a thing!
      Families are complicated, and mine
was no exception. But then, no use
      complaining. And who would care
to listen. But any childhood you’re
able to walk away from can’t have
been a complete crash scene 🤔

This comment kind of collapsed my heart.
Your comments are ever a work of art.
I’m not sure exactly why, but it brought some tears,
For a boy who perhaps made it
        Through some years of fears.
Hugs from far, to a shining star.
A talented artist, you certainly are.

        Or possibly weaker?
        I was sent from penthouse
        to pavement … in a blink 👁️
        Yet the pavement wasn’t
as bad as you might think.
It taught me to walk the line
        along a sharp edge
        of the brink 😎
        I now feel privileged

    1. Yes Basilike, apparently.
      Or at least, that’s what
      my family tells me 🤔
My theory is that I was
      stolen by gypsies, and
      that’s just a facsimile.

      I was missing you …
      thinking perhaps you’d been
      kidnapped by gypsies too? 😎

  3. I am not going to say I am afraid of reptiles just because I haven’t got the change to meet one in my life, just seen movies and zoo’s.
So I am going to be happy about it and say that you are a great owner! ^^

    1. Growing up in Australia, I was
      surrounded by reptiles. I think
I may even be related to some 🤔
They can be very handy as they
eat the Redback spiders like candy.
The Blue Tongue lizards come over
for regular visits, so I dont actuality
need to own any. And when it comes
to snakes, I find it’s best to mind my
      own business 😎

      1. It’s true that you get used to the animals that surround us. I don’t do good with spiders, I came to understand in time that I have arachnophobia as I am really scared of them.
I could not even think of watching them, rather eating them.
You are brave man, David! 🙂

  4. The photos are wonderful my friend. I was station on Africa and the Middle East. I was part of a refueling station and we had lights for the Black hawks to land. The desert snakes would surround the lights at night. We left them be. I did collect the spiders.

    1. Thanks for reviewing the troops.
      Being cold blooded, the snakes
      would’ve enjoyed the warmth, as
the desert tends to freeze at night.
Much like reptiles, spiders are sadly misunderstood, as they come in all
      shapes and sizes 🕷️ 😎

    1. That pic was taken at the Monkey
Temple in Jaipur. A place with an
uber surreal vibe, full of laid back
      monkeys, goats, pigs, and roaming
      cows. All super chilled knowing
that the local humans are vegetarian.
The monkeys would jump up on
your shoulders, and start grooming, looking for some lunch, so it paid
to take a food offering 🐒
      Thanks for visiting, Rose🌹 🙏

    1. Big Aussie hugs from Down Under 💕
My No. 2 son just left Español, and
Catalonia, after a two week trek.
      I should have warned ya.
I was wondering how you were
      going. But knowing you wouldn’t
have been kidnapped by a band of
gypsies, yourself being a Gypsy 😎

Lol you should have warned me of a Redpath on the loose in Spain? Fortunately, my country is pretty big 😛 haha.
        Thanks for your kind thoughts!
Really like your (at least outwardly?) cool, calm, and collected ways and your trust in
my Gypsy-powers. Muchas gracias!! So far,
they have not let me down, even though intensity was a factor in many of my life experiences… but Australia has had a soothening effect on my Spanish fires haha.
Am more of a cool cat now I guess 😎
At least outwardly 😉 Much love to ya!

    1. I guess that’s why we call that
particular critter a Blue Tongue 😎
They’re no lounge lizard, as they
work hard keeping snakes at bay.
With a vice-like bite, once they get a
grip they don’t give up till the snake
is snuffed. It’s very handy for us
as the deadly brown snake likes to
      slither around these parts 🐍
Glad you liked the pics, Gypsy.
The entire post is a blue tongue in
cheek response to a poem. But that’s another long story. Something to do
      with revising the influence Bob
      Dylan had on this dysfunctional
      western culture.

of the Dead Poet’s Society ☠️

You’ve just reminded me of another
        song by You-Know-Who ..

        When you’re sad
        and when you’re lonely,
and you haven’t got a friend
        Just remember that death
        is not the end
And all that you’ve held sacred,
falls down and does not mend
        Just remember that death
        is not the end

        When you’re standing
        on the crossroads
        that you cannot comprehend
        Just remember that death
        is not the end
And all your dreams have vanished and you don’t know
        what’s up the bend
        Just remember that death
        is not the end

        When the storm clouds
        gather ’round you,
        and heavy rains descend
        Just remember that death
        is not the end
        And there’s no one there
        to comfort you,
with a helpin’ hand to lend
        Just remember that death
        is not the end

Oh, the tree of life is growing
        Where the spirit never dies
        And the bright light
        of salvation shines
        In dark and empty skies

When the cities are on fire
with the burning flesh of men
        Just remember that death
        is not the end
And you search in vain to find
        just one law-abiding citizen
        Just remember that death
        is not the end
Not the end, not the end
        Just remember that death
        is not the end

      1. A long awaited reunion worthy of a
        Bob Dylan quotation celebration …

        Any minute now
        I’m expecting
        To wake up
        From a dream
        Miss so much
        The softest touch
        Like the grave
        Of some child
        Who neither wept
        Nor smiled
        I’m hiding my faith
        In the rain
        I’ve been
        Dreamin’ of you
        That’s all I do
        And it’s
        Driving me insane

        Somewhere dawn
        Is breaking
        Light is streaking
        Across the floor
        Church bells
        Are ringing
        I wonder who
        They’re ringing for
        Travel under any star
        You’ll see me
        Wherever you are
        The shadowy past
Is so vague and so vast
        I’m sleeping
        In the balance of pain
        I’ve been dreamin’ of you
        That’s all I do
        But it’s
        Driving me insane

        Maybe they’ll get me
        Maybe they won’t
        But whatever
        It won’t be tonight
        I wish your hand
        Was in mine right now
        We could go
        Where the moon is white
        For years
        They had me
        Locked in a cage
        Then they threw me
        Onto the stage
        Somethings
        Just last longer
        Then you
        Thought they would
        And they never
        Ever explain
        I’m dreamin’ of you
        That’s all I do
        And it’s
        Driving me insane

        Feel like
        A ghost in love
        Underneath
        The heavens above
        Feel further away
        Then I ever did before
        Feel further
        Than I can take
        Dreamin’ of you
        That’s all I do
        But it’s
        Driving me insane

        Everything in the way
Is so shy like the day
        In queer and unusual form
        Spirals of golden haze here
        In there in a blaze
        Like beams of light
        In a star
        Maybe you’re here
        Or maybe you weren’t
        Maybe you
        Touched somebody
        And got burned
        The silent sun
Has got me on the run
        Burning a hole
        In my brain
        I’m dreamin’ of you
        That’s all I do
        But it’s
        Driving me insane

  7. Yes, David, where did it all go wrong, that is the question? I gave up asking myself that question long ago. At some point early in every person’s life the innocent child departs as corruption sets in. The human condition. Childhood is a vanishing virtue. Especially in today’s world where every corrupt man is out and about to trample the rest of humanity underfoot. A seething mass of ugly plastic people clambering over each other, in order to get to the illusory ‘top’ of the disgusting heap.

Maybe you’re not aware of it, maybe it’s not intentional, but there is humour in your words. It is a redeeming quality of course. Without it all that religious bunkum would amount to little more than sermonising. Peace and love, Peter
