Welcome to the Coronadome

Oh, a germ is threatening
My very life today
If I don’t get some shelter
Oh yeah, I’m gonna fade away

Corrr Ona,
It’s just a cough away
Just a cough away
A cough away
Corrr Ona,
it’s just a sneeze away
Just a sneeze away
A sneeze away

Ooh, see the virus sweepin’
Our very streets today
Spreads like Eee Bola
A black plague is under way
If I don’t get a respirator
Oh yeah, I’m gonna fade away

Corrr Ona,
It’s just a kiss away
A kiss away
Kiss away
Oh, sister,
Tell me a vaccine,
Is just a shot away
A shot away
Shot away

Whoever dwells in the shelter
of the Most High will rest
in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord,
“He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you
with his feathers,
and under his wings
you will find refuge;
his faithfulness
will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear
the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence
that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague
that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only observe
with your eyes and see
the punishment of the wicked.
If you say,
“The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High
your dwelling,
no harm will overtake you,
no disaster
will come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not
strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread on the lion
and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion
and the serpent.
“Because he loves me,”
says the Lord,
“I will rescue him;
I will protect him,
for he acknowledges my name.
He will call on me,
and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”

      1. I was just mentioning to Bojana that
I was humming along with My Sharona…

        🎶Ooh my, you’re a nasty one,
        a little nasty one
Are you gonna give me some time, Corona?
Ooh, you make my doctor run,
        my doctor run
Now you’ve gone and crossed the line,
        Corona
Are you ever gonna stop, or give it up,
        such a dirty germ
Are we ever going to learn
        to stop
        screwing Mother Nature up?
        M-m-m-my Corona
Come a little closer, huh, a-will ya, huh?
Close enough to look in my eyes, Corona
Keeping it a mystery, it gets to me
Running down the length of my thigh, Corona
When you gonna give to me, a gift to me
Is it just a matter of time, Corona?
        Is it d-d-destiny, d-destiny
Or is it just a game in my mind, Corona? 🎶

But I thought better of it, Yassy. I don’t
want to appear flippant, or an alarmist 😎

      2. When all this is over , you are going to make this into a song and maybe even laugh about it , David.
You are a talented one , I must say. Even in these trying times, you come up with a mighty awesome tube. Cheers 🍻

      1. Even better 😻
        For my pink-cloud whether.
By the way, have you seen the movie
Rock Dog? I can’t make a rhyme about it
But the cat is an adorable rock god.
        It will cheer up anyone
        With the corona-virus blues
And a cat like that, is a cat like Mick… or you. 😎🎸

    1. Interesting that Mick Jagger
      and Keith Richards originally
      wrote ‘Gimme Shelter’ as an
      anti war song. But Hollywood
      keeps using it as background
      music for drug scenes?

    1. It’s a once in a century thing, Liz.
Happens all the time. But, for sure,
life will be different when it’s done.

      “Stake my future
on a hell of a past.
      Looks like tomorrow
      is a coming on fast.
      Ain’t complaining
      about what I got.
      Seen better times
      but who has not.”

  1. I love the Stone Sour version of gimme shelter. A hard rock version with Lzzy Hale complementing Corey Taylor. As far as the Bible passage is concerned, I sadly disagree. Sometimes God afflicts even the elect. One can never know God ways. I believe those promises were given to a certain individual at a certain period of time. Yes they are encouraging but there are other passages that herald the sovereignty of God like: I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. (Isaiah 45:7) But all said and done, very cleverly written David.

    1. The Midrash states that Psalm 91 was composed
by Moses on the day he completed the building of
the (portable) Tabernacle in the desert. So I see it
as a poetic celebration of the faith that had
supernaturally brought God’s people to that point
of the Exodus story. Complete with instructions and
blessings. Those who took God’s word lightly, and
turned to idolatry(Baal worship), had been thinned
from the herd. Sickness and death are part of the
natural order that we all currently live under. And
that bad things happen to good people.
Yet, above and beyond the hard reality of this fallen
world, there is a much higher reality.
Call me deluded, or simple …. But,
one bright shiny day, I’m convinced, all the
good and the bad, that has gone down in a rotten
deal called human history, will make perfect sense.
      Thanks for conversing, Nitin.

    1. Coughing in public, especially in
a supermarket, has become a bit
of a crime. These are strange and
peculiar times. I trust all will be well
with you, and yours, Florence 🙏

  2. Wild poetry. The art reminded me of LP art of Happy Rhodes as well as others. I’m sure you’re familiar with her great music; ‘Warpaint’, ‘Words Weren’t Meant for Cowards, Be Brave’, etc.. Thanx for all you do. Be well. 🙂 reality

      1. That’s interesting so it wasn’t a psalm of David.

I was reading in some Biblical commentary the past year that “the terror that flies by night” was a reference to the vampiress Lilith.

So another reason why Psalm 91 is right up my alley.

Since I had brought in the Vampiress Lilith as a character in my vampire novels sometime back in the early 2010s. 🧛🏻‍♀
