Secret Happiness

In the midst
of this deepest sadness
the reminiscence
of a secret happiness

Crossing oceans vast
Navigating
the swollen rivers
flowing fast and strong
Past broken relics
of smoke and mirrors
A never ending quest
Following that Siren’s song
along an alien coast
Caring nothing
for what’s right or wrong

Your spells
your scent
they bid me hither
to the Bridge of Sighs
where my lover lies
The joy of arrival
The pain of your leaving
A question of survival
Always clinging
to hopes stirring
of our next awakening
with destiny ascending

All bliss eclipsed
upon your lips
of ecstasy glimpsed
like kissing the eternal
through the spout
of a raging tornado
In the cool breeze
of a towering inferno
I’m drowning
in the vanilla
of your essence
The depths transcendent
A hint of celestial mint
from some distant
and exotic planet
Your after glow
in the undertow
heaven sent
upon a lava flow
The smooth groove
that deepest vent
from way down below
A pyroclastic event
to blast the snow
from off my peak
Melted, steamed, and spent
Steady and slow
Sweet monsoonal rain
quenching the thirsting
of a soul transmission
The seed of love
gently sowing

With your guardian angel prayers
and your Arabian Night whispers
. . . love to grow
In the dignity of pure intimacy
A gift of true pleasure
to graciously bestow
You were but a dream
passing by in the sky
whilst I slept upon a rocky shore
With those eyes of emerald green
and that smouldering golden smile
My molten happiness came shining
through an open doorway glowing
You gave but an inch
I took a mile

All style
and merciful grace
Always the promise
of so much more
Your verdant pastures
my treasure beyond measure
You will always be
my hot sauce of pleasure
Sweetest Bella
your’s is the face
a thousand times plus
that launches my starship
heavy with desire
into outer space
Girl … we couldn’t get
any higher

A scorched sky
all lit up
from the burn up
upon re-entry
to a bountiful
heavenly body
To delve the calm
in the eye
of your perfect storm
To be unraveled
upon a road less traveled
To touch the Sun
to feel the flame
to be undone
Hand in hand
The supreme becoming
reuniting as one
My Queen of Hearts
our Kingdom come

Together
in life’s adventure
the parts
seem to be greater
than the total sum
With you
my Bellissima
I forget
all the stormy weather
To risk the harm
arm in arm
To every heart given
found only
by the lucky some
I’ll forever remember
that whatever is to come
Soulmates summoned
by the Spirit true
That love
of the bold
to have and to hold
in the resplendent
shape of you β™₯️

  1. Hello David, refreshingly different… with passion does the fountain of your love flow….. “Awake O North Wind; and come, thou South; blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out. Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits”. Song of Solomon 4:16 KJV.

    1. … My lovely wife and I have been on a blessed high, through life’s ups & downs, for quite a while. So I’m looking forward to the next stage ! The passion of youth distilled with the wisdom of age.
Thank you Kenzie for your comments ~ David

      1. My fellow and I have known each other since age 5, traveled from kindergarten through high school together, but didn’t unite until 12 years ago, after he divorced, and my husband died. We both wish we had hooked up in school, because we are so good together. Aging, befallen with illnesses, we can only dream what life would have been like for us, “if only”.

      2. It was an arranged marriage, Kavitha.
The Almighty did the arranging, so who
was I to argue? I’ve been blessed with
seven children, and I’m thankful, almost
        everyday 😎

        I love that vision
        of a wife for life.
        Never heard it before.
        It’s music,

      1. Thankyou for classifying me as a good friend. I hope I am. I keep finding new thoughts within your poetry. And so often you are expressing so much of what I would like to express. But you keep your balance. You are a prophet and a visionary. Smile

        to love and to hold.
        I may be painfully shy
        but she makes me
        euphoric, heroic, and bold.

    1. Thank you very much for that.
A most appropriate song. Roxy Music have been a favourite of mine since taking me to Avalon. I saw them in concert once . . .
It was pure class, like a love drug thing 😎

      1. Thanks again David! Perfection can never be reached, but we can try. Having said that, I’m nowhere close to it. Everything you see on my blog is the product of rejection letters by publishers, tons of deleted poems, slow creative growth over years, inner turmoil associated with religion, ostracism, scornful remarks by β€˜friends’, struggles with bipolar disorder and the lust to create. And when someone appreciates it; it makes my day. I’m grateful for you, my friend.

      1. I recall listening 🎧 to Eric Clapton’s
‘Let it Grow’, Robin Trowers ‘Bridge
of Sighs’, and Dylan’s ‘Sad Eyed Lady
of the Lowlands’. Somehow, the music
always inspires, and seeps in 🎢

with a smile from Mona Lisa.
        As Lolita and Guernica
        both fed up with Corona
staying at home like a loner
        dance on moonbeams
in a Post Pandemic Mardi Gras

        in this post’s photographic

        In all seriousness,
        such sweet, beautiful love
        between two such real-life beauties… πŸ‘©β€β€οΈβ€πŸ‘¨

      1. Lots of household chores🏑
        gettin’ done at the moment;

        The Law said,
        “Stay at home, son!”
        but that’s no fun.
        So…
I made a break for it
        A viral criminal

        I must admit, Ivor,

        Sick of housework
        Sick of detergent hands
        Tired from blogging
        Tired from writing
        Sick of this guy, Ivor
        But I’ll be alright
        I’ve medicine in the fridge……

    1. True happiness flows
      with God’s grace,
      no matter the weather,
      regardless of circumstance

      Thanks Buckeye. You’ve reminded
me of an old Dylan song …

      These hands ain’t the hands
      of a gentleman,
      These hands
      are calloused and old.
      These hands raised a family;
      these hands raised a home.
      Now these hands
      raise to pray the Lord.
      These hands won the heart
      of my loved one,
      And with hers
      they were never alone.
If these hands filled their task,
Then what more could one ask?
      For these fingers
      have worked to the bone.
Now don’t try to judge me
by what you’d like to be,
      For my life
      ain’t been much success.
      While some hands have power,
      but still they grieve
      While these hands
      brought me happiness.
Now I’m tired and I’m old
      and I ain’t got much gold;
      Maybe things ain’t been all
      that I planned.
      God above, hear my plea,
when it’s time to judge me
      Take a look
      at these hard-workin’ hands

      ~ Bob Dylan
