Don’t steal from Mabuyu

Mabuyu was dragging his catch on a
string, after a day fishing, when some
greedy people cut the string and stole
his fish. That night Mabuyu waited
until the thieves had eaten the fish
and were camped inside their cave.
Then he blocked the cave with a huge rock. Those thieves never stole again.

    1. Thanks Nitin. Yes, dust to red dust.
      The Australian outback is mostly
iron oxide red. Old abandoned cars
are just left to return to the earth.
Much like the Celtic warriors of
old, buried with sword and shield.

Now I know how the poor White

at least there’s a viral respite here

  2. Utterly amazing… those cave paintings, tingles-inducing… the blue-faced honey-eater (!!), the fish story… the gorgeous people, the white teeth, the mahogany complexions, the smiling carving beauty, the bottle tree!!! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘Œ the…. wait… the *empty* Corona-like bottle?! ;))) — a good sign, perhaps, for the like-named virus. ๐Ÿ™:))) Ah David (and Linda!!), thanks ever so muchness, for this wonderful meander, in the Ozzie outback.

    1. Linda & myself, baring any virus,
are always happy to meander on
      you behalf ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜Ž
I did check, Lia. That Queensland
      Bottle Tree (Brachychiton Rupestris
to be precise) didn’t contain any
beer. Corona, or otherwise. Nor any
virus. In fact .. it was an empty
      bottle tree, sadly ๐Ÿ˜ข

        Since you couldn’t tap

        I can quite understand

    1. My pleasure ๐Ÿ™
You’ve reminded my of a favourite
      Aussie rock song …

      Out here nothin’ changes,
      not in a hurry anyway
      You feel the endlessness
with the comin’ of the light o’ day
We’re talkin’ about a chosen place
You wouldn’t sell it in a marketplace
      Well just a minute now
      Standing on solid rock
      Standing on sacred ground
      Living o-on borrowed ti-i-i-ime
And the winds of change are blowin’
      down the line
      Right down the line

Round about the dawn o’ time,
      When dreamin’ all began
      A crowd o’ people came
Well they were looking for their
      promised land
      Were running from the heart
      of darkness
Searching for the heart o’ light
      Well it was their paradise
      But they were standin’ on
      – solid rock
      And the winds of change
      were blowing cold that night

      They were standin’
      on the shore one day,
Saw the white sails in the sun
Wasn’t long before they felt the sting,
white man, white law, white gun
Don’t tell me that it’s justified,
      ’cause somewhere, someone lied
      Yeah well someone lied,
      someone lied, genocide
      Well someone lied, oh, ahh
      And now you’re standing on
      – solid rock
      Standing o-on a sacred grou-ound
      Living o-on borrowed ti-i-i-ime
And the winds of change are blowin’
      down the li-ine
      Oh-oh-oh no, NO-O

      1. I first saw Goanna at the Station
Hotel in Richmond, back in 1982.
I had never heard of the band before,
        but I remember being impressed.
They soon had a big nationwide
        hit with ‘Solid Rock’ ๐ŸŽถ

  3. Gorgeous photographs. I studied in Australia for a while — not long enough, as far as I am concerned! — and when I boarded the plan back, I thought “I will forever miss this place”. I got used, after a month or two, to the same old familiar, but that series brought it back for me. It’s too easy to fall in love with your country. ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. I know the feeling well. Perhaps there are benefits to this self isolation that we are just learning. The world suddenly shutting down has forced the ramblers of the world to sit still and concentrate on sharing what we have seen. In your case, it seems to be having benefits for all of us. What else have you been keeping from us?

      1. I don’t want to upset Uncle Ernie
        by mentioning that subject. He
finds it too painful to think about
since he lost the patent to the
        highly prized Ernievarius in that

  4. The photographs have there own story and the one you made about the thieves is interesting.
Like your collection. The rusty car is looking fabulous. Amazing click.
I am curious about the drawings on the rock.
The art effect you have given to some photos is great. ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒž

    1. Thank you profusely, Geri.
By coincidence, I learnt all about
morality by listening to lyrics of
      The Ozark Mountain Daredevils …

“If you want a drink of water
You got to get it from a well.
If you want to get to heaven
You got to raise a little hell.” ๐Ÿค

  5. These are neat, love the kangaroo rock, and that blue-faced honey bird. Always seems to me that evolution has a sense of humor when it comes to Australia. I mean what’s the deal with that beer bellied tree? ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for photos!

    1. Yes, it’s hard sometimes to tell the

      That blue-faced honey latched onto
