I think the plastic wrapping of the idols
was just to protect them from renovations
being done at that particular temple.
The Hindu Balinese are quietly proud of
their culture, having resisted & survived
foreign invasion and interference.
I was lucky enough to be there for their
biggest festival of the year to commemorate
“The victory of good over evil” … Kuningan,
when the Balinese repelled an invasion
from Java.
I was intrugued by the wraps being around the lower body rather than the heads to conceal the obvious excitment for having visitors taking photographs π
“People, wasting away
in paradise
Going backward, once in a while
Moving ahead, falling behind
What do you believe
What do you believe is true
Nothing they say makes
a difference this way
Nothing they say will do
Take all the trouble that you can afford
At least you won’t have time to be bored
Oh the power and the passion,
Oh the temper of the time
Oh the power and the passion
Sometimes you’ve got to take
the hardest line” ~ Midnight Oil
Oh WOW!!!! With Heroin You doused me with intensity (and I was already in a pretty stinky, intense mood so I rode that one full throttle!) and here You pushed me down a waterfall of joy! That’s pretty brilliant! You just gifted my first laugh of the day. Love all of these!!! Thanks David! Cheers! ππβοΈ
Sorry Katy … π
I should’ve put up a trigger warning;
“If you’d like your day to have a happy start,
do not read till well after dark.”
Being down under, my late evening is your
early morning.
But glad my Mute Monday cheered you upπ
No worries at all, my friend!!! One of my favorite things about Your expression is that You fearlessly and lovingly look life right in the eye with all it’s colours and call it as You see it. Your work is raw, relentless, crazy deep and so passionately driven! So every time I come by for a visit I’m well aware my heart in some way is taking a little trip!!! And the sadder/maddening/devastating aspects of our earth tribe are all part of it. Rock on (as if You could do anything but!!!) and no apologies/warnings necessary!!! Cheers! π€ππ
Awww, ‘to be a rock
and not to roll’
is a tough tough thing
for such an idol of a man
with a warm warm
heart o’ gold.
