Caffiend

Yes . . .
you’re all very sweet
. . . but I’m sugar free!

And as always
full of chemicals

Is this phone box out of order?
I just need to call my barista!

After a hot shot of Speedy Joe
everything seems much brighter

Even the mundane

is filled with wonder

when fuelled with Java

On caffeine

I can even house train

the Loch Ness Monster

It took a skinful

of Red Bull

to wrestle Nessie

out of the water

I must confess . . .

I’m a pandemic hoarder

a proper Dr Pepper prepper

since Sweet Caffeine

became my percolated lover

In espresso style

she puts a febrile smile

on my caffeinated face

She’s a gift organic

from Mother Nature

Much like her many

naturopathic sisters …

Nicotine, Alcohol, Cocaine,

Opium, and Marijuana

If you want to embrace

this crazy rat race . . . Caffeine

She taste nice

Sugar and spice

Worth the price . . . Caffeine

      1. You are in Scotland 😭 I am so envious, you don’t even know!! I was supposed to go there in May but the borders got closed down and I never ended up going! How is it that you were able to go there?

      2. I was just visiting, Larisa. Well
        before the pandemic. Drove
        the Route 500 from Edinburgh
all round the north coast, and
back down to Glasgow. It was
        a magical summertime venture.
So, unless you like snow ❄️
that’s the time of year to go 😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

      1. Just to think … there’s a whole
world of education to be found,
for free, on the internet. Which
        hasn’t yet been closed down.
It would seem some prefer an
        ear tickling conspiracy theory.

      2. I’m backpacking
        on my afternoon walk
        for an hour they say
I’ll go to the old milk-bar
        buy the newspaper
        and an ice-cream
        my reward for being good
as a ward of the state…..

    1. Now that you mention it, Chris,
I never let Uncle Ernie make me
a cup of coffee these days. He
once got the Maxwell House ☕
mixed up with his private stash
      of Mexican marching powder.
I lost a week in the process, but
at least the ceiling got a good
      scrubbing 😎

  1. In our family, we are fans of decaffeinated diet Coke. Nothing else will suffice. But like the caffeinated version, it, too, has been hard to come by during the pandemic. If not the caffeine, I can’t imagine what exactly makes it so addictive (LOL). :)))

    1. It’s all those chemical ingredients, combining Mother Nature 🌱💚🌻
      and Father Laboratory ☢️ 🚫 ☣️
But I guess less sugar is better
      than a whole lotta preservatives
processed for dinner, Anna 🍟🍔 😎

    1. To get past Lock Down🔒 2020
a retro jolt⚡ would come in handy.
      Especially with a geriatric beauty
      pageant Presidential Election going
      down. A good dose of No-Doz 💊
would be my prescription, for both
the candidates and the audience 😎

    1. I do like my sugary treats, Fiery😎
Now that you mention it, I was
once (or was it thrice 🤔) taken
to a golden mountain top upon a
      flying carpet named Psilocybe
      Cubensis 🌈 ☯️⚡🌀👁️🍄👁️ 🌋
Doors were opened wide and nice
      like an Aldous Huxley/Jimi Hendrix
      experience 🎸♾️💠 🔃
But the truth be told, not all that
glitters is gold, and that flying
      carpet, Psilocybe Cubensis was,
in the realm of reality, just another
      dirty rug 🚫 ☢️ ☣️

      1. Really? Nothing? No cosmic answers? Sigh

I feel like the universe is waiting to speak to me and hasn’t found the right exact channel yet…
I’ll wait and see how to best tune in ❤️💜

  2. A great ode to caffeine. I for one enjoy caffeine and nicotine together. I long to try new energy drinks and then write once a rush of creativity (albeit coupled with tremors, nervous ticks and angst) inundates me.

  3. So I just realized, when I see all of these pictures, especially the ones that include you, I want to be standing in all of these exotic places right alongside you. I’ve never put a finger on why I adore them so much. Until just now,
    Your poetry is also perfect

    1. From one who ethnically identifies as
Scottish, I thank you from the bottom
of my sporran for referring to old
Glasgow town as exotic 😎 I’m sure
you’re the first person to ever do so.
Your poetic company is ever with me
wherever, and whenever, I go roamin’
      in the gloamin’ 🎶💙 👣 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
