I Just Don’t Care

I just don’t care
who you follow
the stuff that you say
and what you think
that you know
In the deepest despair
from way down below
through haunted streets
I’ve driven that manic
and heavy traffic
to a place where
even the light retreats
And I’ve known

of a gentle whisper

through my very soul

Have those things
that you begged
borrowed and stolen
and the approval
for which you’ve striven
all taken a heavy toll?
So, no . . .
I don’t care
who you follow
what you’ve laid bare
or what you’ve taken
Can all those things
ever make you whole?

where you’ve been

who you’ve seen
I just don’t care
who you follow

and go against the flow

  9. Love your poem it isn’t really important what people think they believe as opinions change direction like the wind when search for our own truth. The words of Leonard Cohen and Jesus go so well with your own. Great artwork and photos. The Art very meaningful to me. Bless you.

      I did name that artwork in honour
      of Alvin Lee’s ‘Ten Years After’.
      I grew up with his guitar work 🎸
      reverberating in my ear. Along
      with Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix,
      Eric Clapton, and of course, Carlos.
      ‘Duane Allman, An Anthology’ is
      one of my favourite albums. Its an
      eclectic guitar centric compilation.

  11. That challenge to love our enemies is not easily accomplished. But “We love Him because He first loved us. If someone says, ‘I love God,’ and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?” (1 John 4: 19-20).
