Poignantly presented David … โฎ๐๐ … Barry McGuire’s song from 1965.. from 57 years ago, I was 14, and the brave girl in the video looks about 14 !!
That was the mantra of us
Cold War children, living on the
hair-trigger edge of destruction,
as old politicians, and dictators
of various persuasions, paraded
about boasting their military might
with a withered finger on a big red
button. Now a new generation is
being subjected to the fear of all
out Armageddon. Not to mention
the environmental degradation
… so I won’t mention it, Ivor.
We’ll only get more blah, blah, blah.
I wish Putin would take a tumble; I don’t usually get political on here, but he is an out and out bastard. I find it difficult to comprehend how the actions of one man can affect the safety of our whole planet!
A KGB apparatchik, who uses
the deadly nerve agent, Novichok,
to silence his critics, or simply
throws them in the clink . . .
what else did the world expect?
The West has a sad history of
trying to befriend and reform
tyrants and despots.
Sir Ivor is the Shock Jock of today’s
comment section, Christine, as his
taste in music is like Diana Ross
. . . supreme ๐
I’m praying that Putin will soon
be pushed back from the edge of
destruction ๐
Oh! That’s a great idea. Although, I think I would title it “Ukrainian Daze”. Let me work on that one. I hope she survives, along with the democracy, also. She’ll be a great leader someday.
Interesting how the US will spend
trillions over decades defending
freedom in a country that actually
didn’t have any, and wasn’t all that
grateful, but leaves the democratic
Ukraine to defend itself? ๐ค
Because it’s Russia on the other side, not some hopeless third world country.
Now I guess you don’t know how the Ukrainian regime had been treating the Russians in Dombas since the revolution. I’ve heard some pretty nasty stories. Obviously Vlad got pissed off big time.
Perhaps a case of taking revenge
for the years under Stalin’s blood
stained hammer and sickle? There
has been civil conflict in parts of
the Ukraine, along ancient tribal
lines, and fuelled by Russian equipt
separatists (who’ve shot down
innocent civilisation aircraft).
Why can’t people just try to be
nice to each other, Bojana? ๐ค
When mom and dad canโt slip up respectfully, kids as a rule think itโs all their fault, pointing fingers at each other. Thereโs no war like brotherโs war. Been there, seen it.
I’m sure Putin has his Ministry of
Truth, just like in the book 1984.
We’ve had one here in for years ๐ค
Otherwise I just wouldn’t know
what to think ๐
It’s interesting that Volodymyr
Zelenskyy was considered to be
a pro Russian candidate when he
first ran for President. Now Putin
is calling him a Neo Nazi!? The only
problem is that he’s actually Jewish!
Obviously he wasn’t pro Russian
enough. Hopefully won’t end up
calling him a Martyr for Freedom.
Brave of the girlโฆtoo many wars and there are multiple narratives. Dictatorial regimes thrives through fear mongering and terrorizing. I was in Middle East for long for work , so I saw wars very closelyโฆ it satisfies no narrative and yields nothingโฆ

big fat piggy bank, Hobbo.
His ruble is taking a tumble

Too true. Putin is only one in a long line and there will be others, not yet born, to follow.
