The Used Lover Blues (2)

An Aegean Odysseum (Redux)

Once I had lover

of Olympian splendour

Nightly she would come to me

as the goddess Aphrodite

in a full blown frenzy

of insatiable desire

Lost in her lustful pleasure

I was driven half crazy

(Aphrodite being half human)

Yet at the break of dawn

she’d miraculously transform

into Athena

Zeus’s warlike daughter

the born again virgin

with her divinity fully intact

all pent up

in a vesuvian rage

and ready to attack

Her bronze age wisdom

wielded as a deadly weapon

Was I just her Troy Boy to be used

and then abandoned come the morning?

The Used Lover Blues (3)

A Pantheon of Seduction (Redux)

As a naïve teenager
of unsullied Innocence
I was ruthlessly seduced
by a Grecian lover
who’s pagan charm

from lofty Mount Olympus
the erotically reckless
exotic goddess … Aphrodite
Was it her insatiable desire
that so graciously
nearly killed me with her
all consuming divinity?

The Used Lover Blues (4)

An Epicurean Conundrum:

Carnal The Bristle
Mortal The Brush
Forever That Hunger
Of A Celestial Rush

A hasty summit commences
upon Mount Olympus
amongst some random Immortals
(Not the fictional entities
of Harry Potter, but the fanciful
deities of a bygone era)
with an opening statement
from Demeter . . .
the much revered Earth Mother;

For Far Too Long

. . . or not long enough?

The Malingering

seven long months

convalescing

like some earth bound wraith

unwelcomed

upon consecrated ground

whilst circling the deepest abyss

of some malevolent virus

to which I had no resistance

hellbent on my imminent death

in my weakness

in the darkness

faith put to the test

with a living dose

of heavenly strength
