Earth to Mars

Earth to Mars

My husband is missing
deep in cyber space
He was last seen on Mars
Does Elon Musk know
that my X Man
Captain Lex Icon
got there first?
Now I’ve lost all trace!

Is he missing me
somewhere on Planet Poetry
whilst hunting and collecting
in his alternate universe?
Where aliens and goblins
with ink tipped claws
scratch each other’s backs
with a quote or a verse
of wisdom … or vice
depending on their mood
I don’t mean to be rude
or to sound terse
for it is their chosen food
To regurgitate the past
and masticate upon the future
with illusions so vast
From haunted dreams
to visions of splendour
night and day
they seem to meander

Is that him I hear
swaggering like Jagger
through our front door?
Or just some Jabberwocky
crying out for more?
No …
So if you see him
the one in an oilskin coat
an old felt hat
and a snakeskin belt
tell him that
there’s a launch pad vacant
waiting just for him
My poetic delinquent
and runaway stray
somewhere out there
lost in the Milky Way

Mars to Venus

My maiden fair
of perpetual bliss
who’s sweet charms
I can not resist
The course
I must navigate
has already been set
for love trumps arrogance
Or is it arrogant
of me to say this?
Am I becoming
the cyber hermit
with observations astronomic
from some distant planet?
Is the atmosphere
so vacuous?

My loving Venus
the cosmic tide
upon which we ride
has a heavenly permit
It leads me
it keeps me
in celestial transit
Yet … as I toil
in creation’s soil
have I nothing left
upon love’s shelf?
But words pressed
like virgin oil
from the ripe flesh
of life itself
Words put to the test
in the fires of Hades
Then heaven blessed
upon your lips
with a holy breath

Am I caught
in the crush?
Am I chasing the rush?
I once had my head
in the vice
of interstellar ice
at the light speed of greed
Too high was the price
… and it wasn’t very nice
Is there peril
in throwing the dice
at a poetic level?
With you
and the Spirit true
I can weather any battle

My Gypsy Queen
you are my star sign
Have you seen
all that has been
in one pure drop
from a golden dream?
Do you know what is to be?
In great loss
have you counted the cost
of hard won victory?
You know the Word
ever spoken
yet seldom heard
is deep within me
For I am surrounded
by divisive opinions
being spoon fed
to hungry minions
from strange dominions
with magic potions
But toxins in the grave
of promises broken

My reborn Venus
I am a slave
to your satisfaction
My lonely lover
have I left you
to thirst for that burst
from where true love
comes first?
I place you high above me
In the raging fire of desire
I put myself last
Do you wish me to be
no talk and all action
in this world
of blind reaction?
Hating hatred
whilst fighting for peace
amongst the spies
of tricle-down lies
As the Last Post sounds
for feudal economics
a war is raging
in the bitterness
of greed and injustice
Wounds self inflicted
by a fist clenching
with envy and unforgiveness

Forgive me my absence
Should I cease and desist?
In love . . .
I am willing to be
your soul apprentice
For your call to enthral
I find so hard to resist

  1. I was suddenly reminded of “Space Oddity”, Bowie, “Major Tom (Coming Home)”, Peter Schilling, “Rocket Man” & Elton.

“Tell my wife I love her very much, she knows”

“If my wife, my love…” then, nothing more.

“I miss the earth so much, I miss my wife”

    1. Luiza, we both thank you.
      I am Marguerite’s Bananarama
so never have a Shocking Blue.
      Like a song continuously sung;

      🎶 She’s got it
      Yeah baby, she’s got it
      Well, I’m your Venus
      I’m your fire
      At your desire 🎶

    1. Thank you, M.
      My nearest & dearest started
the process. I think she was
trying to sound a protest ?
      I don’t usually do ‘collaboration’,
as I don’t play well with others.
But for the sake of cohabitation,
and the peace of the nation
… Love is a poetic celebration.

    1. Green lights in full flight
      as I traverse this universe.
      The flashing of red …
      warning of impending dread.
      Celestial lights shining
      bright and pink
      when Venus and Adonis
      take love unto the brink.
~ thanks Aruna for the prompt
