the delights of shallowness
the dangers of depth
the bottom of every day
is cruel
voyages of love
overhead
(+) whispers float and secrets sink

In a time before time

high I was taken

to the summit

of a holy mountain

and watched as the future

marched past in procession

The whole of creation

high on celestial power

singing in celebration

Glory sparkled in the air

vibrating with divine passion

In the midnight hour

I now pray to heaven

that one fine day

… it will finally happen

. . . But . . .
somewhere
along the line
the conveyor belt
of human compassion
has broken down
since the devil
stole the handle
that pumped
the breath of life
into the populace
of Placebo Town


Where antisocial
anxiety levels
are measured by satellites
that circle the Earth
and treated
with alien chemicals
smuggled in
from outer space
that dissolve without a trace
after promising a miracle
Now the favourite place
for the surviving residents
is head first underground
where guns are delivered
into the hands of hatred
and nobody dares
to make a stand
by making a sound
Yet most agree
it’s for the best
as what goes around
comes around
on that roundabout
called Placebo Town

At Tribe Pseudo Uno
the alpha gang
of Placebo Town
things are done in reverse
as lies are uplifted
and the truth put down
to avoid the appearance
of having the gift
of common sense
A question in the balance
survival of the fittest … or
the persistence of the perverse
as it was found that over time
the gene pool gets shallower
with the best of the best
sent over the trench
of tribal warfare
over and over again
singing out loud and proud
“Remember the Placebo”
their prideful town anthem


Like so many
of Generation Placebo
I was duly sacrificed
at birth
to ensure a good harvest
for the Scorched Earth Corporation ™
But I didn’t mind in the least
my only complaint
was being stuffed into a hearse
and dispatched to the east coast
of a strange land
known as the Best of the Worst
where the Bull Market
is run by the Beast
where the balance
of your bank account
is the measure of your existence
where world peace
put simply
is bad for big business
(strange but true)
and the futures exchange
is always happy to arrange
a golden ticket
to the liquidators
. . . especially for you

The Head Liquidator

Ever since
the Garden of Eden
Placebo Town dysfunction
can be found
in the hearts of men
wherever a thief
wears a golden crown
wherever a liar
boasts a shining halo
where there’s a warlord
revelling in destruction
The glittering lights
of Placebo Town
are a seductive illusion
designed to seed and breed
the deeds of rebellion
with a greed that succeeds
in exceeding la vida loca
of obsessive compulsion
leaving you grasping for more
The Grand Tour of Nuvo Babylon
is an open invitation
for those who long to score
the full-blown contagion

Staring into the face
of the human race
past the dust and grime
of space and time
I was startled to find
glimmers of pure brilliance
the kind that shines bright
and cuts through
the deepest darkness
with a persistence
and resilience that belies
this mortal existence
From whence it comes
is anyone’s guess
but I hear clearly the cries
of … “Vive la Résistance!”

      to be coming to a fiery end, with
      libraries, churches, entire cities,
      put to the flame 🔥 Men loosing
      all reason in hatred of his fellow
