The Tyrannosaurus Rex
Good karma
. . . or grace and mercy?
With not a moment to study
the rules of a fixed race
I passed the test
after circling the drain
and left in the dust
of a place never seen
by the brightest and the best
Yet the rings of smoke
from a magic forest
could not hold me
at the Last Resort
despite the generous discount
a buffet breakfast to die for
and the kind offer
of a late check-out
The ferryman then told me
that my journey
had forever
been paid in advance
but not a word about
who’d paid the price
or who held my hand
whilst skating the thin ice
of a frozen wilderness
as the Tyrannosaurus Rex
of fearsomeness
that tyrant lizard king
turned out to be just a louse
nothing but a squashed bug
on the windscreen
of a hearse driving past
of all fearsomeness
that tyrant lizard king
turned out to be
nothing but a mouse
Had no one else noticed
that parking ticket
on the windscreen
of a hearse driving past?
Had it been waiting for me
having a soul illegally parked
and so obviously unroadworthy?
An infringement notice
with the lot
along with all the evidence
had disappeared without a trace

The little girl has the right idea … face to face, and interrogate the T-Rex, “why do you have so many pretty teeth?” and “do you use a Mickey Mouse toothbrush too?” …

Not just teeth, Ivor.
That lizard sure had a lot of gall ๐ฆ
walking right into a shopping mall,
with the security guards so useless
and all. But that little girl had T-Rex
quickly turn tail and out the door ๐๐

The little girl was so fearless
T-Rex had to quickly find a new address
So quickly, he left behind his nightdress

Paleontologists have recently decided
that the Tyrannosaurus Rex actually had
lips, so perhaps he was just after a kiss?
No wonder the girl thought him deluded.

I think they were all veterans

no T-Rex doing it’s shopping ๐๐ฆ
was going to scare them, Sheree.

Always remember, if confronted by a
Tyrannosaurus Rex ๐ฆ to move away
slowly and sideways. That will ensure

I’m going to have to reconsider where I have coffee from now on: the Coffee Club is one of my favourite haunts; great photos, David; is that kid in the B & W photo you?

In Queensland, Coffee Club stopped
giving Senior’s discounts, so I made

I haven’t been to Oz since 2016 but used to frequent the Coffee Clubs in Brisbane when I was there. Where is the one in your photo?

Those pics were taken at the Fountain
Gate shopping centre, made infamous
by the ‘Kath & Kim’ television sitcom.
Located in Melbourne, Victoria, as
that’s the epicenter of postmodern
Aussie shopping mall culture ๐

Not familiar with Kath & Kim and I have never ever watched Neighbours (just thought I’d add that for info!). Been to Melbourne quite a few times but the last time was way back in 2006. I had a good friend who lived in Hawthorn but she passed away quite some time ago and another who still lives in Mansfield VIC. Yep. Aussie shopping malls do all tend to look the same

Thinking in that first foto with the choker all he needs is a half buttoned silk shirt and some dancing fool disco muzak.

Beware the T-Rex of Victoria
Heโs more than just a spare tire
He looks like he could be made out of rubber
But heโs actually a night clubber
Knowing the whens and wheres of the next rave
And no matter what, donโt go to his cave!

Sadly, Lindy and I postponed our trip

subjected to a post lockdown Chinese
