That Tyrant Lizard King 🦖

The Tyrannosaurus Rex

of all fearsomeness

that tyrant lizard king

turned out to be

nothing but a mouse

Had no one else noticed

that parking ticket

on the windscreen

of a hearse driving past?

Had it been waiting for me

having a soul illegally parked

and so obviously unroadworthy?

An infringement notice

with the lot

along with all the evidence

had disappeared without a trace

Good karma
. . . or grace and mercy?
With not a moment to study
the rules of a fixed race
I passed the test
after circling the drain
and left in the dust
of a place never seen
by the brightest and the best
Yet the rings of smoke
from a magic forest
could not hold me
at the Last Resort
despite the generous discount
a buffet breakfast to die for
and the kind offer
of a late check-out
The ferryman then told me
that my journey
had forever
been paid in advance
but not a word about
who’d paid the price
or who held my hand
whilst skating the thin ice
of a frozen wilderness
as the Tyrannosaurus Rex
of fearsomeness
that tyrant lizard king
turned out to be just a louse
nothing but a squashed bug
on the windscreen
of a hearse driving past

  1. The little girl has the right idea … face to face, and interrogate the T-Rex, “why do you have so many pretty teeth?” and “do you use a Mickey Mouse toothbrush too?” …

    1. Not just teeth, Ivor.
That lizard sure had a lot of gall 🦖
walking right into a shopping mall,
with the security guards so useless
and all. But that little girl had T-Rex
quickly turn tail and out the door 😎👍

    1. In Queensland, Coffee Club stopped
giving Senior’s discounts, so I made
a stand and black banned them ✊😎
Yes, that pic of a young herpetologist
is me. The name for people of my
      chosen profession has mysteriously
become a source of derision?!? 🤔🕶️
So much so, I now tell people I milk
      camels for a living 🐪

  2. I haven’t been to Oz since 2016 but used to frequent the Coffee Clubs in Brisbane when I was there. Where is the one in your photo?

    1. Those pics were taken at the Fountain
      Gate shopping centre, made infamous
by the ‘Kath & Kim’ television sitcom.
      Located in Melbourne, Victoria, as
      that’s the epicenter of postmodern
      Aussie shopping mall culture 😎

      1. Not familiar with Kath & Kim and I have never ever watched Neighbours (just thought I’d add that for info!). Been to Melbourne quite a few times but the last time was way back in 2006. I had a good friend who lived in Hawthorn but she passed away quite some time ago and another who still lives in Mansfield VIC. Yep. Aussie shopping malls do all tend to look the same

  3. Beware the T-Rex of Victoria
He’s more than just a spare tire
He looks like he could be made out of rubber
But he’s actually a night clubber
Knowing the whens and wheres of the next rave
And no matter what, don’t go to his cave!

    1. Indeed Tanmay, you can’t fool
      the Mammals of the Evolution💃🕺
with a rubber suit and a dog collar.
He 🦖 may have been a smooth disco
      dancer, but without opposing thumbs
on those puny little arms, T-Rex was
never a threat to the primates 🙈🙉🙊

    1. That Tyrant Lizard King made a huge
Mesozoic Era error by invading the
      neighbouring Paleogene Period, full
      of peace loving mammalians🐭🐰🐵😎
Extinction is too good for him! 🔥🦖
Thinking of you and hoping you’re
keeping cool 🩵 in this current helter

      1. Take care, Athena Basilike ❤️‍🔥😎

Sadly, Lindy and I postponed our trip
to Vietnam due to the country being
subjected to a post lockdown Chinese
invasion. Apparently a bit less hostile
        than Vlad the Destroyer’s incursion
into the Ukraine. Plus, we’re currently
caring for some rescue farm animals.
But we’ve still got to do some travelling
around the world’s biggest island (or
        smallest continent 🤔🕶️), Australia 🌏
