Abraham In Common . . .

yet marked by Cain, over and over again

. . .  with enough blame to go around
in this religiously vicious tribal game.

A rare AL JAZEERA blooper

In case you missed it

(with due respect to Hind Al Khoudry,
a courageous AL JAZEERA journalist.)

“A father of the fatherless and
a judge and protector of the widows,
is God in His holy habitation.
God makes a home for the lonely;
He leads the prisoners into prosperity,
only the stubborn and rebellious dwell
in a parched land.”

~ Psalm 68:5-6 (Amplified)

“Pure and unblemished religion
[as it is expressed in outward acts]
in the sight of our God and Father is this:
to visit and look after the fatherless
and the widows in their distress, and
to keep oneself uncontaminated by the
[secular] world.”

James 1:27 (Amplified)

“You have heard that it was said,
‘You shall love your neighbor and
hate your enemy.’ But I say to you,
love your enemies, bless those who
curse you, do good to those who hate
you, and pray for those who spitefully
use you and persecute you, that you
may be sons of your Father in heaven;
for He makes His sun rise on the evil
and on the good, and sends rain on the
just and on the unjust.”
~ Jesus

    1. The passing by point of interest was
visual (the man in the background with
an automatic rifle), so my camera phone
instinctively didn’t bother with the audio.
No wonder they’re called smart phones!

  1. There is no way to peace, David, as you know, but the way of peace.
Here is an example of the Dakota. They did not, of course, arrive at this quickly. Nor has this anything to do with their being outside the Abrahamic tradition. This has everything to do with their being, as are we all, Homo and self described as Homo sapiens sapiens. Best to you and yours. Sarah

    1. Thank you, Sarah 🙏

(a Big Drum of shocking grace
      outlasting time itself
      endlessly drumming into space)

      North to South
      West to East
      from the stars of heaven
      far beyond our mortal reach
to the sand on the seashore
      every grain upon every beach
      North to South
      West to East
      Mankind shall forever more
      Finally live in peace 🕊️

  2. In my opinion, this is a racist war between Muslims and Jews. But, as long as Muslims call for the genocide of Israel and the Jewish people, there will be no peace, and Israel has a right to protect itself from megalomaniacs trying to destroy it. This conflict didn’t start in 2024 or 1948. It started during the time of Mohammed. Calling for a ceasefire will not end the conflict. And why aren’t more people demanding the return of the hostages? Did they just forget about them? Understandably, people are scared, but the war can only end when the problem is resolved.

  3. I don’t know why do we want to harm our earth our humanity! Who want war ? No one . We want peace in life and everywhere but inspite of that war is happening 😔 we don’t know the way to get out of these for sake of humanity. Well shared David. Last lines are excellent 👌

    1. Territorial, tribal, religious, and primal.
I learnt all I know about anthropology
out in the jungle, travelling from village
to village. One tribal chief spoke fondly
of his tribe’s victory over another. The
only difference with the Middle East,
Sudan, Ukraine, and Myanmar, is the
      weapons are bigger. Man’s inhumanity
towards his fellow man is an never
      ending tragedy, Priti.

  4. I doubt there will ever be peace in that region. But unlike students in American universities I believe that both sides are at fault. This war was started by Hamas on October 7th and no amount of justification makes that okay. Israel’s response is cruel, and has far exceeded the limits of a just war, but violence never solves anything. But then again Hamas isn’t a non-violent group. I believe both sides believe in Genocide too.

    1. Thanks for your observations and
thoughts on this tragic state of affairs,
Nitin. I remember seeing Iran’s recently
      deceased foreign minister, Hossein
      Amir-Abdollahian, chanting “Death to
Israel” whenever he’d address a crowd
of fellow Iranians. It was his catch cry,
and ever received with an enthusiastic
response. I had previously been under the
foolish notion that the job of a foreign
minister is to seek and promote peaceful
      relations with the neighbouring states?
