“Have you seen the well to do
up and down Park Avenue?
On that famous thorough fare
With their noses in the air
High hats and narrow collars
White spats and lots of dollars
Spending every dime
For a wonderful time …
If you’re blue and you
don’t know where to go to
why don’t you go where fashion sits?
Puttin’ on the Ritz.”

~ ‘Puttin on the Ritz’
Song from the movie Blue Skies (1946)

    1. Thanks for this day …
      our daily blog, Mia πŸ™
      Left out some Americana
      type song lyrics that seemed
      somehow appropriate 😎
      I’ve just added them in,
so thanks for the reminder πŸ’—

      1. Oh! I was so thrilled to be on time to the party, I usually arrive after all the upright guests have left, only to find myself in a sea of horizontals. Ha, I’m no MP either, wait I am an MP! I will have to have a look at your list again in my morning. πŸ˜‰ Have a terrific day, David, and Happy April Fools’!

      2. Yes … I think you’ll find that after a brief
cremation, like a Phoenix, MP has had a
        miraculous resurrection!
So you’ll be there, in spirit.
Have an upright April, vertically speaking πŸ’—

    1. Thanks Drew.
That bit at the end is some lyrics
from the song, ‘Puttin on the Ritz’.
It was sung by Fred Astaire in the 1946
movie, Blue Skies. A romantic musical, Drew,
so should be right up your street 😎

  1. One fine day in the middle of the night,
Two dead men got up to fight.
    Back-to-back they faced one another,
Drew their swords and shot each other.
One was blind and the other couldn’t see,
So they chose a dummy for a referee.
A blind man went to see fair play,
A dumb man went to shout “hooray!”
    A paralyzed donkey passing by,
Kicked the blind men in the eye,
Knocked him through a nine-inch wall,
Into a dry ditch and drowned them all.
A deaf policeman heard the noise,
And went to arrest the two dead boys.
If you don’t believe this lie is true,
Ask the blind man – he saw it too!

      1. Positively, a possibility
        that you might’ve reminded me
        of a long forgotten song;

        What was it you wanted
Tell me again so I’ll know
        What’s happening in there
What’s going on in your show
        What was it you wanted
        Could you say it again
I’ll be back in a minute
You can get it together by then

        What was it you wanted
You can tell me I’m back
We can start it all over
Get it back on the track
        You got my attention
        Go ahead speak
        What was it you wanted
When you were kissing my cheek

        Was there somebody looking
When you gave me that kiss
        Someone there in the shadows
Someone that I might have missed
        Is there something you needed
        Something I don’t understand

        What was it you wanted
Do I have it in my hand
        Whatever you wanted
        Slipped out of my mind
        Would you remind me again
        If you’d be so kind
        Has the record been breaking
        Did the needle just skip
        Is there somebody waitin’
Was there a slip of the lip

        What was it you wanted
        I ain’t keepin’ score
        Are you the same person
        That was here before
        Is it something important
        Maybe not

        What was it you wanted
        Tell me again I forgot
        Whatever you wanted
        What can it be
        Did somebody tell you
That you could get it from me
Is it something that comes natural
        Is it easy to say
        Why do you want it
        Who are you anyway

        Is the scenery changing
        Am I getting it wrong
Is the whole thing going backwards
        Are they playing our song
Where were you when it started
Do you want it for free
        What was it you wanted
        Are you talking to me
