Secret Happiness

wp-1616569870360.jpg

In the midst

of this deepest sadness

the reminiscence

of a secret happiness

From the highest peaks of light

to the Isles of outer darkness

she came shining bright

my Lady of the Harvest

My Belladonna of the night

For so very long

before I knew her

I was lost to human sight

madly navigating

a raging torrent

flowing fast and strong

upon an endless quest

to hear the Siren’s song

caring nothing

for what’s right or wrong

A soldier of misfortune

being driven on

having crossed oceans vast

only to be shipwrecked

and forsaken

upon an alien coast

Somewhere in the past

my soul still tied

to a broken mast

💠 💠 💠

Was it her scent

a spell

or the roar of thunder?

It’s now hard to tell

as some irresistible power

drew my lover and I together

hither to the Bridge of Sighs

where my swollen river

overflows the fertile delta

between her golden thighs

To the Three Fates

as destiny awaits

her love is my only answer

my sure guide

through life’s dire straights

💠 💠 💠

The joy of arrival

the pain of your leaving

A question of soul survival

always clinging

to hopes stirring

of our next awakening

diving the well

of paradise swelling

with pleasure ascending

All bliss eclipsed

upon your lips

An ecstatic glimpse

of the sweet eternal

That serene embrace

of a raging tornado

in the cool breeze

of a towering inferno

I’m drowning

transcendent

in the scent

of your essence

That hint

of a celestial mint

from some distant planet

The hunger satiated

Two souls consummated

spirits wholly elated

A physical singularity

franticly tossed and lost

in a romantic binary

❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Your after glow

in the undertow

heaven sent

upon a lava flow

Your smoothest groove

the deepest vent

as way down below

a pyroclastic event

from a mighty peak

Steady and slow

The seed of love

gently sowing

Let it grow

dsc_1128-01-291512756.jpeg

With those

Arabian Night whispers

and your celtic prayers

where angels often linger

let love grow

upon Heaven’s stairs

in the dignity

of pure intimacy

A gift to forever treasure

you graciously bestow

so recklessly

With those eyes

of emerald green

you were but a dream

passing by in the sky

all style and grace

whilst I slept

upon a rocky shore

lost in time and space

That smile

upon your radiant face

with a hidden promise

of so much more

You gave me an inch

so I took a mile

as my molten happiness

came flowing

through an open door

like the Bora winds

upon an Adriatic shore

I took you in Barcelona

You took me to Paris

Your love always

evens the score

My centre of balance

My reason for existence

❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Your verdant pastures

my treasure

beyond measure

You will always be

my hot source of pleasure

Sweetest Bella

your’s is the face

that launches my starship

heavy with desire

into outer space

Girl …

could we get any higher?

❤️ ❤️ ❤️

To delve the calm

in the eye

of your perfect storm

To touch the Sun

and scorch the sky

To feel the flame

upon re-entry

to your bountiful

and heavenly body

To be undone

to be unraveled

hand in hand

upon a road less traveled

united as one

My Queen of Hearts

our kingdom come

wp-1616576715774.jpg

La mia bella signora

you are truly a journey

of high adventure

With you

and the Spirit True

I forget all about

life’s stormy weather

I shall always remember

that love is for the bold

to have and to hold

till our time is through

For me

love only comes

in the lovely shape of you ♥️

  1. Hello David, refreshingly different… with passion does the fountain of your love flow….. “Awake O North Wind; and come, thou South; blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out. Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits”. Song of Solomon 4:16 KJV.

    1. … My lovely wife and I have been on a blessed high, through life’s ups & downs, for quite a while. So I’m looking forward to the next stage ! The passion of youth distilled with the wisdom of age.
Thank you Kenzie for your comments ~ David

      1. My fellow and I have known each other since age 5, traveled from kindergarten through high school together, but didn’t unite until 12 years ago, after he divorced, and my husband died. We both wish we had hooked up in school, because we are so good together. Aging, befallen with illnesses, we can only dream what life would have been like for us, “if only”.

      2. It was an arranged marriage, Kavitha.
The Almighty did the arranging, so who
was I to argue? I’ve been blessed with
seven children, and I’m thankful, almost
        everyday 😎

      1. Thankyou for classifying me as a good friend. I hope I am. I keep finding new thoughts within your poetry. And so often you are expressing so much of what I would like to express. But you keep your balance. You are a prophet and a visionary. Smile

A most appropriate song. Roxy Music have been a favourite of mine since taking me to Avalon. I saw them in concert once . . .

      2. Thanks again David! Perfection can never be reached, but we can try. Having said that, I’m nowhere close to it. Everything you see on my blog is the product of rejection letters by publishers, tons of deleted poems, slow creative growth over years, inner turmoil associated with religion, ostracism, scornful remarks by ‘friends’, struggles with bipolar disorder and the lust to create. And when someone appreciates it; it makes my day. I’m grateful for you, my friend.

‘Let it Grow’, Robin Trowers ‘Bridge
of Sighs’, and Dylan’s ‘Sad Eyed Lady
of the Lowlands’. Somehow, the music
always inspires, and seeps in 🎶

        gettin’ done at the moment;

        The Law said,
        “Stay at home, son!”
        but that’s no fun.
        So…
I made a break for it
        A viral criminal

        I must admit, Ivor,

    1. True happiness flows
      with God’s grace,
      no matter the weather,
      regardless of circumstance

      Thanks Buckeye. You’ve reminded
me of an old Dylan song …

      These hands ain’t the hands
      of a gentleman,
      These hands
      are calloused and old.
      These hands raised a family;
      these hands raised a home.
      Now these hands
      raise to pray the Lord.
      These hands won the heart
      of my loved one,
      And with hers
      they were never alone.
If these hands filled their task,
Then what more could one ask?
      For these fingers
      have worked to the bone.
Now don’t try to judge me
by what you’d like to be,
      For my life
      ain’t been much success.
      While some hands have power,
      but still they grieve
      While these hands
      brought me happiness.
Now I’m tired and I’m old
      and I ain’t got much gold;
      Maybe things ain’t been all
      that I planned.
      God above, hear my plea,
when it’s time to judge me
      Take a look
      at these hard-workin’ hands
