The Placebo Diaries (7)

Gloria the Head Huntress

and mud wrestler of splendour

forever in my thoughts

in her XL sized spandex dress

We first met

at the Double D Sports Bar

down by the railroad tracks

on the outskirts of Placebo Town

where we shared tequila shots

and spikes of crystallised comets

out back amongst the haystacks

but to her it was all business

as her brothers

the Warlocks of Crime

were locked up at the time

and it was down to her

to keep the workers in line

with a cold slap of the wrist

and a warm kiss of her fist

I never asked to meet her brothers

and I steered clear of her sister

Sweet Delilah the Philistine

a risk I could resist

as I didn’t wish to end up

chained between the pillars

at the Temple of Dagon

where the veins of many

were drained into one

As for Gloria herself

working The Double D Sports Bar

as “Marilyn Mudroe . . .

the Mean Queen of Splatter!”

a fine specimen

of a battle hardened maiden

yet a princess of regal bearing

tall in the saddle

and bountiful of muscle

During the festive season

when the night portals

went off line

and Satan’s little helpers

were so hard to find

she would hold me tight

with a care package

of forgetfulness sublime

too sweet for the street

so I could tolerate

the family Christmas

surrounded by the ungrateful

and the jealously resentful

that I was not yet dead

Each year worse than the last

Gloria was all business

as she hunted for head

under alien skies

with her meteoric lust

thinly disguised

by the dust of frozen comets

in her faraway eyes

but in her loneliness

under a shroud of darkness

I knew she longed for more

than shared needles

and the chemical caresses

of those Placebo Town nights

Something . . .

I just couldn’t give her

yet she ever

remains in my thoughts

the head huntress of madness

my mud wrestler of splendour

Gloria . . .

in her XL sized spandex dress

    1. Only by the hairs on my chinny chin chin,
Basilike. Those Warlocks of Crime don’t
take any prisoners. Fortunately for me
they didn’t mind their sister keeping me
as a plaything. Nonetheless, Gloria did
like to play rough ⚔️🖤 🛠️🥊😎
      God . . . I miss her!

    1. Thank you, Timothy 🙏
In reality I did try my best to extract
some surreal from the madness of
Placebo Town . . . but then, I do get
      easily abstracted. Thankfully I have
Multiple Michael to blame for that 😎

    1. Thanks for attending the screening,
      Christopher. Your reviews are always
      greatly appreciated 🙏 😎 I often ask
myself … what would Federico Fellini
do if he was a broke baroque fantasist
poet down on his luck in Placebo Town?
The answer is ever the same. Without any
doubt, he’d dolce vita the best that he can.

    1. Thanks for your considerate
      consideration, Anna 🙏
Perhaps the flip side of pure passion
      is true compassion 🤔🕶️

  1. David, when I was young, my mother told me nice girls didn’t hang out in garages with their girlie calendars. Well, my brother and I were just collecting old ball bearings for “steelie ” marbles. I found the garage quite interesting and took my mother’s advice with a grain of salt. 🙂
Reading this post for the second time, (The first time I read it I didn’t quite know how to respond.) I felt like I was disregarding my mother’s long-ago advice that nice girls don’t hang out in garages. I enjoyed the post. The art is vivid and dramatic and the story is gritty and engaging! ❤

    1. Respect to the wisdom of your mother,
Cheryl. The eternal parental dilemma 🤔
inside every good girl there’s a bad girl
just waiting to bust loose 😈 Equally …
inside every bad girl there’s a good girl
just waiting to be given a chance 😇
You’ve reminded me of an often quoted
      Rumi verse …

      “Somewhere beyond right and wrong,
there is a garden. I will meet you there.”

    1. Wonderful to hear from you, Cara.
The Placebo Diaries are a binary entry
into faux reality, with Multiple Michael, my
      accomplice in abstract crime, providing
      the artwork.
Gloria is a factual simile, but I try to smile
through the pain all the same 😎

    1. Thank you, Christopher.
As you may have guessed, Chewbacca
is a real party animal, who loves a good
mud wrestle. So Gloria got on a bit too
well with my wingman. Turns out she has
a thing for a hirsute Wookie. As a result,
their indiscreet little fling nearly burnt the
house down 🔥 literally! The repair work
took months before the Double D Sports
Bar was open for business again 🍻😎🍺

    1. Thanks for being lured into the
      expurgated pages of the Placebo
      Diaries, Cindy🙏😎 Yes, even the
strongest dose of amnesia failed to
erase the slightest trace of Gloria 😥
A stain to the heart is the risk you
take in the embrace of a victorious
      mud wrestler 💔
