For Far Too Long

. . . or not long enough?

The Malingering

seven long months

convalescing

like some earth bound wraith

unwelcomed

upon consecrated ground

whilst circling the deepest abyss

of some malevolent virus

to which I had no resistance

hellbent on my imminent death

in my weakness

in the darkness

faith put to the test

with a living dose

of heavenly strength

“Yet in all these things we are more than
conquerors through Him who loved us.
For I am persuaded that neither death nor
life, nor angels nor principalities, nor
powers, nor things present nor things to
come, nor height nor depth, nor any other
created thing, shall be able to separate
us from the love of God which is in Christ
Jesus our Lord.” ~ Paul the Apostle

      1. Just walked five miles, in my old
        Roman sandals, through a tropical
        rainforest up past of Cairns.
I did cheat a bit by keeping to the
highway, so as not.to be eaten by
        a hungry croc🐊 😎👍

    1. Life happened, with all it’s associated
risks. I have thus far led a relatively
charmed existence, but into every life
      a little rain must fall 🌧️ so I shouldn’t
complain too much 🙊 I’m well on the
way to recovery. Thanks for thinking
      of me, Priti 🙏😎

    1. Far from the Master’s plan
      from the paradise
      of Eden’s garden
      to the carnage
      that has become
      the once Promised Land
      somehow
      something has been lost
      and broken
fallen from the hands of men
      amid the chaos
is there ever a way back
      to the Master’s plan
      with the promise
      . . . Never Again

Thanks for spurring me on …

  1. Welcome back to da ‘hood David. Glad you’re better now and back in creative mode again. Where’s the church? Looks like it’s been bomb damaged by the Luftwaffe or Henry VIII’s reformation boys were let loose on it at some point in the past.

    1. Thank you, Garry 🙏 It’s good to
be back in the gangsta’s paradise
      known as WordPress 😎👍
Linda took that photo whilst I was
      tiptoeing around the cemetery at
Melrose Abbey, trying hard not to
step on any of my ancestors ☠️

Which church/cathedral is in the photo/artwork?
Take care and look after yourself

    1. It’s Saint Mary’s Abbey in Melrose.
I was there visiting the Ancestors 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Praise be it was just a temporary trip
to the cemetery there 😎 Thanks for
for your well wishes, Brenda 🙏

    1. Indeed Charlie … and thank you.
Yes, I guess I’ve been too low for zero,
as Elton John once said after a sneeze
from the blow. Now I nose how he feels,
still standing after recovering from some
      mutant disease.
Looking forward to catching up on the
      yellow brick road of WordPress.

    1. Thankfully Lia, I’m in the good hands
of my loving photographer and wife 😎
Without Linda I would’ve been in strife.
I’m now planning to go on vacation
together for the remainder of my life 💞

  3. faith put to the test”

I remain very uncomfortable with this concept. The Job story contradicts the idea of a loving and unconditional god. It characterizes a god that is petty, demanding and a master ready to keep us in our place which apparently is assigned us by a very vindictive god. Certainly shows us how insignificant we are and who is the almighty commander-in-chief. That our faith is tested by misfortunes is not indicative of a loving god whose promise of love and support is unconditional and does not need proof ofour allegence. It is evil that tests us. It is God that fortifies us to rise above and untouchable by cruel tests. My earthly temporal Father, my dad, never tested me. He was always in my corner no matter what. Testing is imposed upon us by evil not God – our heavenly father. Paul’s quote opines that nothing can separate us from God’s embrace and all misfortunes from any source do not emmanate from Him.

    1. I was referring to the illness 😷
Pain and suffering can be testing.
Mother Teresa , rightly or wrongly,
was a big believer in the idea that
suffering can bring one closer to
the Saviour. Thanks for reading and
      your thoughtful comment, Carl 🙏

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author
and perfecter of our faith, who for the
joy set before him endured the cross,
scorning its shame, and sat down at
the right hand of the throne of God.”
