The Diamond Creek Dogs
Shades of Junk

Junk in school
Junk on the street
Junk is lurking
every place
that people meet
There’s nowhere safe
Can you stand the heat?
Best be cool
and fast on your feet
Junk that cheats
and is hard to beat
Torremolinos (revisited)

You Call Them Doors?!
War on Drugs

For Those Missing In Reaction
In the darkest of jungles
I’ve hunted & collected
black market creatures
spawned from the crooked deals
of the well healed and concealed
criminal classes
riding high with Pablo & Carlos
in an altered cosmos
where the likes of Escobar
is some kind of super star
and heartbroken mothers
are left to clean up the mess
forever counting the cost

The Love Memorandum

Still breathing
Living still
From oceans deep
an immortal spill
The waters testing
in the fullness of time
What’s in your heart?
Who’s on your mind?
Having received
the Love Memorandum
from Planet Freedom
Regarding that love
that doesn’t change
in the wildest of weather
and through all that’s strange
Of love forged
in the fires of forever
Love that gives meaning
and substance
to this existence
A love that never fails
like the latter rains
of a summer harvest

On the Road … Again

Having spent
several lifetimes bent
circling the extreme
of some astral plain
I was fully strung out
like a link in a chain
dangling between
those merry little elves
reaching for a holy spark
and the servants of pain
delving the deeper dark
within a fevered brain
heading down the drain
a rabbit hole
of white light intensity
Amid the ecstasy
and the insanity
a message was sent
The One who calls
called my name . . .
“Be wholly sane!
And man …
don’t forget to repent!
You’ll never be the same.”
